IKEA Desk Hacks

Used the Kallax desk for years and decided to go for a standing desk.

Easy I thought, just buy a second desk, saw a piece off and mount it on top of the existing desk.

Advantage is the lower desk can be used for a scanner and cable management.

  1. Hi, nice build!
    I was thinking of using the CAPITA legs to create a monitor stand. I was thinking to use a LACK shelve, but I don’t know if I can screw the legs into it because the inside is made of cardboard, right? How did you tackle this?

  3. We have just visited the new Ikea order and Collection store opened in the last week or so in Aberdeen. We knew that we would have to order any goods selected but we’re aghast to find that we have to pay carriage on goods delivered to the store, as well as to our home.
    All we wanted to buy was a cushion costing £3.50 and were stunned to find out Yes we could expect to collect it from the Aberdeen store in a couple of days , but, this would cost us £3.75!! More than twice the cost of the very small light product we had chosen to buy.
    Why should Aberdeen Customers have to pay for carriage because of where we live? This is totally discriminatory and unfair. We were told to boost our order so that we got more for the outlay of carriage. We were also told when we complained that IKEA was saving us a journey to either Edinburgh / Glasgow and this is why we must pay extra!
    Surely Ikea products are not made in Glasgow or Edinburgh and are therefore transported to these and other large IKEA stores. The customers who visit these stores can visit once and buy the product and pay the current price with no other overheads. In Aberdeen the customer pays for the privilege of shopping in IKEA and has to visit the sore twice or pay even more to have it delivered to their home,
    Stores like Argos who operate a similar order and collection system do not expect customers to pays twice as much as customers in more populated areas, so, Why should IKEA do this. Is this just greed? This has altered my positive enthusiasm for the store and I now feel that IKea management are a grasping high handed group of business people. This is a qute unfair system.it is understood that to have a product delivered to your home will involve extra costs for the service, but not if the product comes from another outlet and the customer has to spend petrol money etc returning to the shop.

    1. What?!?! Are you alright madam? It’s cost money for staff to pick it up, pack it, have it posted, courier service deal with your parcel, find where you live and send it over, by van which run on petrol, knock on your door and sign it.
