Looking for a furry friend? IKEA UK and Woodgreen Pets Charity have joined forces for a heartwarming collaboration to help abandoned pets find their forever homes.

The initiative features two adorable lookbooks—a “Cat-alogue” and a “Dog-alogue”—showcasing adoptable cats and dogs lounging in style on IKEA’s new pet furniture line UTSÅDD. The collection marks IKEA’s latest foray into pet furniture, and it couldn’t come at a better time.

Surge in Abandoned Pets

Sadly, 2023 saw a significant rise in abandoned pets at Woodgreen, a rehoming center for pets in need. With a 62% increase in abandoned animals and a staggering 253% year-on-year increase in pet surrenders due to financial hardship, the charity is working hard to meet the growing need. Last year alone, Woodgreen helped over 8,800 pets find new homes.

Finding a Solution

This partnership aims to raise awareness about pet adoption and provide practical solutions for creating a comfortable living space for furry companions. The UTSÅDD collection, developed with the help of veterinarians, pet experts, and even a panel of excitable cats and dogs, features 29 pieces designed to cater to the four key activities pets enjoy at home: eating, sleeping, playing, and hiding.

“At IKEA, we believe that pets are family,” said Michaela Quinlan, Country Commercial Manager for IKEA UK and Ireland. “We hope this partnership not only raises awareness of adoptions but also provides solutions and inspiration for creating comfortable living spaces for furry companions.”

More Than Just Furniture

IKEA UK’s contribution goes beyond adorable lookbooks. The company has donated all the furniture featured in the Cat-alogue and Dog-alogue to Woodgreen’s rehoming center, providing the pets with a comfortable and enriching environment while they wait for their forever homes. Additionally, IKEA UK has made a monetary donation to support Woodgreen’s mission.

Fiona Cooke, Head of Specialist Services at Woodgreen Pets Charity, echoed the sentiment: “Every pet deserves a loving home… We’re absolutely delighted to be partnering with IKEA to raise awareness of what we do, and celebrate rescue pets of all shapes and sizes!”

The 24-page PDF lookbook features ten canine models. The dogs are captured in various pawsome poses and featured alongside their backstory and a glimpse into their personality traits. Miya, this 10-year-old Husky, came to Woodgreen because her owner couldn’t look after her anymore. She’s currently staying with a fosterer who tells us she’s “good as gold”.

The 28-page lookbook features feline beauties, including Nala, a 7-year-old Bengal cat. Her favorite hobby is climbing trees and having a good scratch.
