After buying a new bed, I needed to get rid of our old IKEA Malm bed. When it came to the bed slats, I couldn’t bring myself to do it. I decided to upgrade the wood, which was in great condition, by building myself a coffee table.
I wanted something rustic looking as I’ve always liked the look of reclaimed wood. After taking apart the slats, I built up the frame before staining the wood and adding some metal ring handles. I also painted the inside yellow, so now it reminds me of a glowing pirate’s treasure chest.
