makeup counter

The above is a example of the idea I have to connect two Godmorgon units with a makeup counter maybe with a drawer underneath.

Using either the Ikea matching doors from the  wall cabinet or another cabinet front panel.

I look forward to your advice and suggestions on how best to do this.  I don’t want the expense of a non-Ikea separate countertop and sinks.

Can this be done?

    Were you thinking that I need some counter behind and in front of the sinks, so I would need a cut out for the sinks? Maybe not? I was thinking that I would need to have the sinks up against the wall and all the way to edge of the counter in front, is that not true in order to install the faucet and attached the cabinet to the wall? Then no sink cutouts are necessary. Then just attached the counter to the sides of the cabinets. The counter could be wood from a Godmorgan wall cabinet and small stone counter on top for durability. I can put the counter at the same or lower height. In addition, I was thinking of making a shallow drawer under the makeup counter using a BESTÅ VARA Drawer front and an INREDA Drawer without front. Do able?

    Another issue, I have a irregular angle space at one end of counter where it meets the wall, that I would fill in with counter to match (again wood with stone on top) a matching wood fill on the front corner. I was thinking of using the wood from the matching Godmorgan wall cabinet. I would use the sink cabinet on one end to start the span. The counter width now is about 100 inches + only attached on one wall, but is fake floating so the width is variable. 3 24″ cabinets and a 24″ counter in between would do it.. 27″ cabinets are used now, (I can’t seem to figure out how to add a picture to this post.)

    Is this plan workable? I am looking forward to your advice..

  2. i don’t see why it couldn’t be done.
    you’d want to get a top that’s the final width you want, and then attach it to the godmorgon cabinets after cutting holes for the sinks. you’ll want to use silicon to help hold the sinks onto the top. ikea sinks don’t use sink clips, i don’t think. also, with the added thickness of the top, you may need a longer pipe to reach the trap assembly.

    once you’ve got the cabinets on the wall and the top on, you can measure for a lower shelf and install it by screwing through the cabinets into it’s sides. predrill first so that things don’t split. same with a door if you want one there. predrill and screw the holes into one or the other side of the existing cabinets. i’d double check that you’ll have opening clearance just to be sure, but if you use ikea hinges, you’ll probably be fine.
