Hackers Help: Creating art barriers using hacked IKEA items?

I run a small non-profit gallery in snowy Canada. In the very near future we’re going to need some of those artwork barriers (the kind you see in museums to keep curious fingers off fragile works). Like this.

They are insanely expensive and I was thinking, some of the hardcore hackers on here might have some suggestions of items at IKEA we could hack to create our own…
