DIY sliding door for pax wardrobe

I am thinking of using PAX wardrobes for media storage and a hide-away home office, but the sliding doors are quite pricey for me at this time. Would it be possible to use the sliding door hardware to make my own doors with plywood or some other material, or is that just a terrible idea?

    3 Weeks ago I found the time to let my Pax Doors slide.
    I did some photos, and I will write a manual on “how to do this” in the next days.

    Yes, ist it possible.
    Yes, there is an IKEA Product, you can buy for this to make your doors slide,
    but this only works on certain wandrobe-widths.
    My solution re-uses the door you have, and should be applyable to any width as long as you find
    the proper sliding- metals (I got mine from the big A, but I am thinking about whether one could use the curtain-sliding stull from Ikea)

    As I said:
    Give me a few days, then I’ll post a manual with photos.

      I have similar situation, want to build a sliding door, size is different from PAX doors. Would like to see if anybody have built something. Thanks!

  2. As for how to do it, I can’t be of any help. I just want to say that if you can imagine this as an attractive solution, then there’s a way to achieve it. Your vision is the important thing.
