Genius Way to Hide Your TV Without Tools or Damage

Hate how your TV sticks out like a sore thumb?

Joanna did too. When she wanted to create a welcoming guest room, the wall-mounted TV was ruining the vibe.

“I don’t want to see it every time I walk into the room. Given how far it’s off the wall, all I see is wires,” she lamented.

However, she knew guests would appreciate having their own television. Therefore, she came up with a clever hack to hide the TV when no one was watching it. And you don’t need any tools to do it.

What You’ll Need

(Can we just take a moment to revel in this super-short item list? Aaaaah.)

1. Attach Two of the Frames

Use Gorilla Tape® to attach two of the RÖDALM frames on all four sides, from the inside.

2. Add the Artwork

Use the third frame for your artwork. Simply add it to the frame like you normally would, putting the insert in last.

3. Connect All the Frames and Hang

After inserting the artwork, attach the doubled-up frames to the artwork frame using the tape. Then, hang it over the TV on the wall, and remove it when it’s time to binge your favorite show.

Cost of this hack: $100 for the three frames and tape, plus the price of the artwork

Time to do this hack: About five minutes

You Can’t Beat the Time for This Hack, but What About the Price?

Undeniably, a hack that you can complete in about the time it takes to heat up last night’s leftovers is pretty tempting. Plus, bonus points for not needing any tools, because let’s face it, not everyone knows their way around a woodshop.

Therefore, if you’re looking for something that requires minimal skills, no carpentry knowledge, and no tools, this is a great option. It’s also a great way to make a temporary fix to hide a TV, for example, as one commenter mentions, staging a home for sale.

However, if price is a larger concern, then you might want to tweak a few things.

How to Do It for Less

If you do have basic carpentry skills, you can build a frame and use a flexible plastic sheet or similar for the front display. You’d save about $60.

You could also save money by creating DIY artwork or repurposing fabric or wallpaper scraps. It’s also always worth taking a peek at IKEA’s as-is section to see if you can score what you need on sale.

Have a Bigger TV?

If you make a frame, you’d have more control over the size. Therefore, you could adjust it if necessary, in case you’re attempting to hide a slightly larger television.

Otherwise, if you need to hide a larger TV but don’t want to drag out the toolbox, you’ll need to find larger frames that can accommodate your needs. The RÖDALM frame comes in several sizes, including a 24” x 36” and a 27½” x 39¼”, if you need to go bigger and want to keep the hack tool-free.
