Another one from Shelemka. Good for stowing away your Macbook when not in use.

“I made this vertical laptop stand for my 13” Macbook Proir?t=ikeahacker 20&l=btl&camp=213689&creative=392969&o=1&a=B001P05NKG using 7″ x 10″ Anordna glass shelves that I bought when Ikea was clearing them out (I believe they’ve since been renamed to Lillangen), some 1 1/2 inch screws with blunt ends (machine screws?) and 10 -1/4″ x 1/4″ rubber washers that fit tightly (serving as nuts to hold the glass in place). Although the glass does sit flat on the desk, I did add a stand I had from an old external hard drive for extra stability.”

  2. The vents in a Macbook pro are at the back of the computer, near the hinge so this would not cause a cooling problems as the bottom is open. I can’t speak for PC notebooks as I don’t have one but some may have a similar system.

  3. With this dock and using external devices, there could be a overheating-problem and destroy the Notebook. Apple Products have a kind of a bad cooling system, when some parts are covert.

    It is only a frame to brang with your Apple product. The heading is the first indication, why haven’t you called it only “vertical laptop stand”?

  5. Now that is brilliant, Shelemka!

    The point, anonymous, is that it’s immensely useful as a dock / space saver for those of us who bring our laptops home and plug them into a monitor, since we don’t always like peering at a small laptop screen. I imagine if you replaced one of the glass panels with metal grate of some sort, it would also help with cooling/ ventilation.

  6. I should have mentioned that it is connected to an external screen. But mostly, I made it to keep my cat from walking on the closed notebook (noticed it flexing when she did that) 🙂
