Materials: The pliers from the old Ikea toolbox
Our drainpipe was clogged by a little plant growing out of it. It was completely out of reach. As the gutter was about to overflow with rain water, I needed to come up with something quickly. So I went into McGyver mode.
I took a Gardena garden tool handle rod, stuck the Ikea pliers into the hole at the end where the tool attachments go, tied a rope to the free end of the pliers and guided the rope around the fastening knob and towards the other end of the rod.
I reached over to the offending plant, pulled the rope to grab it with the pliers and lifted it out in one go. The gutter immediately drained and I did a little victory dance.
