GORM vs IVAR?

Hello,
I am trying to build a room divider that will add storage space to my apartment. I can attach it to the wall on oone side only but it will otherwise have to standalone. I want to use the cheapest materials that will do the job.
Gorm is cheap but seems to rickety (esp side to side) to do the job. Most examples I have seen use Ivar in a back-to-back configuration. This would be expensive though. I would want it ideally to be 2 units long so it would be 4 Ivar units altogether.
Is there any way to hack Gorm to do the job? Any other suggestions???
