This piece was motivated by numerous Ikea hacks and inspired by the works of Markus Jehs, Jürgen Laub and Christian Horner. The Linnmon side was cut to length with a circular saw (140-tooth blade). The risers are 24″x3/4″x3/4″ wood molding painted white. The top, side and risers were joined with 3/8″ dowel pins. Two Decoflex desktop files compliment the Kallax drawer inserts; I placed self-adhesive felt strips to the base of the desktop files to prevent scratching. Rubbed bronze cabinet knobs replace the original hardware.
The Linnmon table top only has veneer on one side; in my case, this was not an issue, but others may have to purchase and install birch veneer. I used 16-pound damage-free hanging strips to connect the riser to the shelving unit; again, in my case, this was not an issue, but others may have to find an alternative.
