Materials: SKURAR – Lantern for block candle
Had a boring light fixture at home with a cracked glass shade so we had searched everywhere for a replacement but no luck.
Finally saw these trendy metal candle lantern with a lace pattern that seems popular on Ikea’s latest collection and got an idea. I just opened the bottom of the lantern with a can opener and drilled a few holes for the mounting rods.
The white was a bit too vanilla for me plus I needed to hide the marks left by the opener so I spray painted the outside with a matt black and left the inside white. The idea was also inspired by the very pretty NYMÖ lamp shape, which had some femininity with masculinity as well.
I think the result turned out great and made an old fixture much more expensive and sophisticated than before, also extending the life span of a working fixture.
