IKEAhackers Giveaway with CoverCouch, O'verlays, Panyl, Prettypegs and Semihandmade

We launched the IKEAHackers Giveaway a week ago and so far, it’s been fun reading all your comments. Keep them coming to win gift certificates from my 5 amazing sponsors. The KARLSTAD gets a fresh new look

Materials:

  • 4 Prettypegs  Estelle 170 White
  • 1 CoverCouch sofa cover: Houston Soft Rose Blended Viscose designed by Nevotex
  • 1 IKEA Karlstad sofa

Steps:

  1. Remove the original IKEA KARLSTAD sofa cover
  2. Replace it with a colorful, beautifully made cover from CoverCouch.
  3. Remove the old furniture legs and screw on Prettypegs legs.
  4. Decorate with a beautiful pillow of your choice.
  5. And that’s it!

KLIMPEN desk upgrade

Materials:

  • 1 IKEA KLIMPEN table top – Black (120cm x 60cm x 3.4cm)
  • 4 Prettypegs OTTO 700 table legs
  • 4 2.0cm Greek Key O’verlays strips
  • 1 MDF board
  • 1 PANYL sheet Carrera Marble (124cm x 64cm)

Steps:

  1. We purchased a 47 1/4″ x 23 5/8″ IKEA Klimpen table top in black finish, and attached it to a set of Prettypegs Otto 700 table legs
  2. We purchased a 2 ft x 4 ft MDF board at Home Depot and had it cut down on-site to match the dimensions of the Klimpen top (120cm x 60cm).
  3. We wrapped the MDF board in Carrera Marble PANYL.
  4. We glued the wrapped MDF board to the Klimpen table top with construction adhesive.
  5. We spray painted the O’verlays Greek Keys with high-gloss black paint, and glued them to the sides of the IKEA Klimpen table top.
  6. Finished!

  1. I’d love a CouchCover for my corner 2+2 Ektorp in teal or slate blue. We bought the corner soft just after the sofa and covers were no longer stocked in Australia and I’m desperate for some bright colours (yay teal!!!) while I get the current boring beige dyed into a bright “look at me” colour.

  4. I like the “Danika O’verlays Kit for IKEA MALM (3 drawer)” and I would use it to make my dresser fit in better with my other birch and white furniture.

  6. My plan is to build a sidebord from a white Kallax and the Estell 220 Leg in Ash finish from Prettypegs. It will function as a stand for our bonsai tree collection and as storage for the not so pretty things 🙂

  12. I like the covercouch ektorp cover since we bought our sofa on the cheap, but they only had a boring colour. I would love to have a nice teal couch!

  13. Semihandmade products are incredible. When using their products you can not only change the style but also the ambiance which affects how you feel about your space. Using these products allows one to select a dramatic change that is affordable. I would love the opportunity to customize my space with their products!

  14. I have an original Karlsbad sleeper sofa that has survived three dogs, too many kitties and two kids and looks it. It remains the most comfortable thing in my living room taking the place of her spot on top of the bunk bed for my younger daughter when she’s home from college. Now that she’s dorming, I want my living room back and would love to make it less flophouse and more “My house” with some creative hacking and covers…

I had to move from my 84m2 apartment to a fine, but very small 32m2 apartment in December because I had quite a financial breakdown.I was so glad to be able to take my beloved KIVIK Three-seat sofa with me, it fits perfectly in the living room/kitchen. But sadly it took some heavy beating in the move, so it really needs a new cover. I would love to win a new sofa cover from CoverCouch. Thank you for the opportunity 🙂

  19. I enjoy making furniture with wood tops and pipe legs, so I would probably purchase a few of the Karlby countertops and make some tables out of them.

    The winner out of all Ikea products for me is its Billy shelving units. They are versatile and have different finishes. I used them in conjunction with other Ikea pieces to build “fake” built-in bookcases, to organize my three children’s rooms, and even to dress up my living room. Put them on both sides of our white fireplace, added some crown moulding on tops and bottoms of the shelves, and it looks like a million bucks! People pay thousands to get the look I spend only about $200 total (moulding included).

    I enjoy my living room so much now! I wish I could attach a picture to share with you all!
