Do you know if this is sold in the US or not? Trying to plan my home office/craft room for when we move back to the States and need to know if I should buy it here and have it sent home with my household goods or not!

  1. You can find this out easily for yourself. Go to ikea.com – or click the change country button on your websitr- and search. You can even pick a store near to where you will live. Search for kallax. It will either not show up or yell you if an item is not available in your store.

    From my 5 minute look no that particular item does not appear to be available.

  4. If you’re savvy with some basic woodworking tools and a screwdriver, you’re better off building it yourself. The tabletop is made out of those hollow plates, so as soon as you put any weight on it (in my case it was an A/V receiver, a computer screen and a keyboard), it will bend. Plus the painted on wood pattern is going to get rubbed off after a while.

  5. I bought one in NC about 5 years ago. It is not durable and came apart after less than 2 years. The desk is made from very thin faux wood with honeycomb cardboard type paper in the middle. The lamination separated and it essentially fell apart. You are much better off using furniture grade plywood and making your own. The book shelf is holding up fine and is made from better material.
