I’m so excited to let you guys know that it’s finally going to be here – the IKEAhackers book. The book is being printed even as we speak and will hit stores mid-August.
Way back in 2007, the thought of writing an IKEA hacking book was already in my mind but the plan was derailed, over and over. Till late 2015, the lights turned green. And we’ve taken all these months to put it together. To be honest, there were times we were quite ready to poke each others eyes out but I’m so thankful the team held on and kept on. And now it’s both a relief and joy to say: The book is coming. Soon.
Okay, what’s the lowdown?
The book will feature 25 of the best and biggest IKEA hacks that anyone can make and use in their homes. It’ll inspire you to see beyond the obvious when you go furniture shopping at IKEA.
Here’s a peek at the mock-up of the cover, featuring the brilliant kitchen island by Sofia Clara.
Inside you’ll find hacks on kid’s beds, even a cute doll house. It’ll have hacks for the living room including TV and media units, a sofa table and room divider. For the bedroom, there are two headboard hacks and a dressing table. A fantastic kitchen island and designer bar cart too. There’s certainly something for everyone in there, and for every level of DIY prowess.
The book is a collaboration among 19 contributors, moi included. More on these awesome people in a later post.
It will comprise a mix of projects published on IKEAhackers and never-seen-before hacks. Previously published projects will carry expanded text and photos to make the projects easier to follow. Each project comes complete with step-by-step instructions as well as full-colour illustrations and photographs.
I have 7 exclusive projects in the book, which I co-created with a designer friend specially for this book.
So enough already. Just tell us …
… when can we get our hands on the IKEAhackers book?
The rest of the world? I don’t know yet but we’re working on it.
It will be available pretty much wherever books are sold. I’ve also included some links below if you wish to pre-order from your favourite online bookstore.
