IKEA bird cage: New house for my parrots

New house for my parrots - IKEA bird cage hack

I hacked a new house for my cute birds/parrots (Myiopsita Monachus), from an old IKEA wardrobe (almost 2006). I can’t remember the name. Picture below is the IKEA wardrobe.

Birds loves to be as high as possible. The idea was to build a cage from floor to ceiling.

This was very easy with the IKEA wardrobe as a base. I added some aluminium and 3×3 wood pieces (the same as the original wood wardrobe) to extend the wardrobe to reach the ceiling of the room.

Some doors and stands to stay when they flay out of the cage.

Add some toys, swings, bath…..

Four wheels and you’re done.

It’s light, useful, and both parrots are very happy living at the top.

They can see the world from the top.

Now they are building a nest inside their new inside home. As they did in the older one.

Day by day… little stick by another little stick… months of work.
Inside this tangle they have their own space.

It’s really nice to see how they’ve built their home a little more every day.

And they are HAPPY with every little stick they add.
