I was wandering through the “As-Is” section at IKEA and saw the discounted HEKTAR floor lamp.
I was inspired to pair nature with the simple industrial look of this lamp.
Turned out to be a versatile piece that maintained its elegant form with added function. Especially if you are a plant parent.

IKEA items used:
Other materials:
- 3/4″ Conduit Hangers
- Grow lights
- 5-star knob with 1/4″ x 1″ stem
- 1″ x 8″ x 24″ hardwood plank
- Wooden Trays (can be made or purchased on WMBH etsy store)
Tools:
(only necessary if building trays)
- Phillips Screwdriver
- Cordless Drill
- Jigsaw
- 120 Grit Sandpaper
3 tier plant stand instructions:
Step 1:
Building the Wooden Trays
Measure and trace three circles on your plank of wood.
Cut out the circular trays with a jigsaw.
Sand the edges to get to a perfect round shape.
Alternatively:
You can purchase a set of premade oak trays on the WMBH Etsy store)
Step 2:
Mounting Hardware
Pre-drill a pilot hole into the edge of the wooden tray.
Fasten the conduit hanger to the wooden tray.
Step 3:
Mount the Trays
Attach the conduit hanger to the lamp post.
Adjust to the desired height on the post.
Replace the hanger bolt with the 5-star knob and tighten.
Step 4:
Lighting
Identify the right spectrum of light for your plants.
Install grow light bulbs into the HEKTAR Lamp.

- Conduit Hangers: $1.50
- Grow Lamps: $16-$30 (make sure you find the right bulb that safely works for the HEKTAR lamp specs)
