Decorative fireplace to cozy up the kids room

I started this project because my children always wanted a fireplace in their bedroom. This is a decorative fireplace and no actual fire is used.

I wanted something simple and easy to put together without too much carpentry skills required.

It all started with a BILLY bookshelf 80x28x106.

It is very simple to create because you don’t need many tools, except a cordless drill or screwdriver.

First, remove the shelves if your BILLY bookshelf is already assembled. Then, coated the entire parts inside the BILLY bookshelf with brick-like peel and stick adhesive stickers.

I used one of the shelf for the top panel, fixed with L brackets to the lateral part of the BILLY.

Then, I used white wood panel for the two sides. I fixed them with screws and L brackets to the sides of the BILLY bookshelf.

Next, I attached the molding around the BILLY panels using glue.

Lastly, I finished it off with a larger wood panel for the mantel.

Set decorations inside the fireplace. And that’s it.
