The GREJIG wire shoe rack was always just … there. Doing its job quietly. Now IKEA has built a whole system around it.
The IKEA GREJIG shoe rack has never been a headline product. It’s a single-tier wire rack that holds your shoes and costs $4.99.
It works.
It doesn’t ask for much.
Most people who own one barely remember buying it.
Which makes what IKEA has just done with the range all the more interesting.
GREJIG is now a three-piece collection. Alongside the original shoe rack, there are two new additions:
- GREJIG Wall Grid — $8
- GREJIG Wall Pocket — $7
- GREJIG Shoe Rack (the original) — $4.99
Same black wire aesthetic across all three. Same no-fuss approach. And the whole lot comes in under $21.
IKEA’s New GREJIG Wire Grid Organization System

1. GREJIG Wall Grid
The wall grid is the standout piece. It’s a wall-mounted wire panel with a bottom shelf — the kind of thing that looks like it belongs on a home organizer’s must-buy list.
It comes with 5 hooks, which are tested to hold up to 4 kg. Clicking the hooks into place also adds stability to the grid. I can see the rounded hooks becoming a hanging station for hats, scarves, headphones, whatever tends to pile up near your front door.
I also like IKEA’s thoughtful addition of spacers in the corners to keep the grid at a safe distance from the wall to prevent scratches and marks. Many cheaper wire grid systems lack this extra bit.
Looking at IKEA’s own product imagery, the intention is clear: wall grid mounted high, wall pocket sitting below it, shoe rack at floor level.
Stack them together, and you’ve got a complete entryway organisation setup that looks deliberately designed rather than thrown together.
2. GREJIG Wall Pocket
The wall pocket is more understated — a wire basket that mounts horizontally on the wall, open-fronted so you can see and grab what’s inside.
Mail, a dog lead, and sunscreen by the back door. It can also be used to store up to 3 pairs of shoes. The ideal kind of catch-all to keep surfaces clear.
It’s Not Only an Entryway Solution

The entryway is the obvious starting point, but the pieces travel well:
Home office — the wall grid keeps cables, headphones, and stationery off the desk without requiring a full shelving setup.
Kitchen — mount the wall pocket on the back of kitchen cabinet doors for items that you need to regularly access, like kitchen towels or trash bag rolls.
Kids’ rooms — hang the wall grid at child height for art supplies or small bags. Add bulldog clips, and it doubles as a display for their drawings.
Garage or workshop — the wire grid format works exactly like a pegboard, with a cleaner finish.
Affordable Organization With The IKEA GREJIG
Wire grid organization systems have been a fixture in home design content for a while now — minimal, modular, and easy to style in most interiors. You can definitely get that look at a low price point on Amazon, but with mixed results.
IKEA pulling together a cohesive sub-$10 range in this style is a straightforward move, but a smart one. The pieces look like they belong together because they were designed to. That’s not always a given at this price.
All three GREJIG pieces are available now on the IKEA US website and in stores. The shoe rack is $4.99, the wall pocket is $7, and the wall grid is $8.
Quiet little range. Does exactly what it needs to.
