Materials: SKAR Cabinet with Mirror

Description: IKEA pictures this with keys, etc on hooks, but I installed in my bedroom and made it into a jewelry cabinet.

Install per IKEA instructions with 16 hooks provided. Add 12 3M hooksir?t=ikeahacker 20&l=btl&camp=213689&creative=392969&o=1&a=B000FSORW4 in between the cabinet hooks. If needed add 3M hooks on inside of door for even more storage.

I love it because it is well organized, easy to see all, but closed up in the cabinet not getting dusty.

  2. I sort of love your simplicity. I had to beg to get my ears pierced at 15. My mom said she waited so long because she didn’t want me to take more time getting ready picking out earrings! Daily I tend to wear the same ones now, but fun to switch it out for special occasions

    1. Alissa – Well that is disturbing..I think this specific cabinet is no more.. There is one something like it, named Godmorgan, but I don’t think it has the big hooks that came with mine, and I don’t think it has “legs”. I have added more hooks and also hanging jewelry organizers for earring and bracelets on inside of mirrored door. 2 with 24 each Clear mini pockets @14 each From HomeGoods.

  4. This would be great with a pegboard cut to size and placed in the back but don’t forget to use wood strips behind the pegboard to create some space for the hooks to fit in. Also, hanging dowels left to right would add extra storage for bracelets.

  5. THANK YOU!!!!!! This problem has been bugging me for MONTHS and I am scandalized by the ridiculous cost of “jewelry armoires” that barely hold half as much as this hack.

    I am going to go to IKEA tomorrow and pick up the Skar cabinet. I’m planning to use your original idea plus the anonymous Dokument idea. Now I may actually wear something other than what happens to be on the top of the tangled pile of jewelry on my dresser.

  6. I love it. The only disadvantage I see is that it is not good for necklaces to hang. It puts tension on thread. So maybe I would put them in little see through pouches and hang them…

  12. I love it, though I have another “idea” to add: I have added hooks to the inside of my regular PAX wardrobe. I have the compartment shelves that can hold baskets or piles of shirts, for example, and they do not use the full depth of the wardrobe, so I used the “empty” space for hooks.
    I am also thinking of adding more hooks to the insides of the PAX doors (and the inside of my bathroom cabinet, just to store a necklace and a pair of earrings).
    I love this hack, but I don’t have the extra space, nor would I want to spend the extra money (if I can avoid it).

  14. I have a hack to add. You could add the DOKUMENT to hang your earrings. I use it by taking the tray, hanging it on the door with the underside out, this allows you to hang hooked earrings and the mesh is tight enough to hold studs! I sent in this idea the other day, maybe we will see it posted!

  17. TERRIBLY JEALOUS, i just a few months ago bought something for 80 that is like this but keeps the jewelry exposed I wonder how much this product is, i can surely sell mine and this is much better! i wish i thought of this

  18. Ok I soooo want to do this. I’ve had my jewels out before in the open displayed but they collect dust and get tarnished. This is a great way to keep them hanging without ruining them.
