How to Get the Beauty of Blooms When You Don’t Have a Green Thumb

I love the idea of filling my home with fresh flowers, but it seems I lack the skills to keep them alive for more than a few days. I try, I really do, but it doesn’t seem to work out.

So I started thinking: what are the best ways for someone like me to include pretty florals in my home without worrying about dying decor?

I mean, my rug has a bold floral print that I love, and you can always go faux, but what else? That’s where IKEA comes in, with its GULDSPETT series of paper flowers, pieces featuring flowery patterns, and other artificial stems that look fresh and beautiful all year long.

Then, add in the creative hackers who put their own spin on blissful blooms, and you end up with tons of ways to enjoy roses, daisies, sunflowers, and more; no green thumb required.

Get Creative With Artificial Flowers

One of the simplest ways to introduce easy-care blooms into your design is by using faux flowers. Choose quality pieces that look real or introduce something special to your design.

If you want to create the illusion of real blooms, consider pairing your faux plants with soil or water in lovely pots and vases. Also, keep stems dust-free with a soft brush or by wiping them with a dry cloth.

IKEA boasts many beautiful options for fake bouquets, stems, and potted plants, including unique paper flowers that lend an artful ambiance to any space.

IKEA product developer, Sofia Snygg, noticed that IKEA’s line of real and artificial flowers was missing something. She set to work with a dedicated and talented team to create a series of colorful paper flowers that elevate the faux floral experience, turning it into an art form.

The GULDSPETT collection features over 12 pretty paper blooms with steel stems that let you bend and shape them however you choose. The idea is to recreate what you see in nature in a creative way that brings you joy.

Snygg shared, “When you look at the details on flowers and leaves in nature, it’s totally amazing. The colors, the vibrancy, the shapes. We had great fun finding ways to replicate those intricacies as closely as possible.”

Now you can bring these paper masterpieces home and put them to work in your design. Choose from a pink peony, a light orange poppy, a blue iris, and so much more.
