When we first got the green KURA bed tent from IKEA, I was excited — I thought it would be the perfect cozy nook for my daughter.
But she wasn’t thrilled. “I can’t see anything in here!” she said when she was lying under the tent.
And honestly? She was right. It felt more like a blackout curtain than a fun fort.

Crochet Bed Tent Hack
I had a beautiful crochet blanket made by my grandmother, and it felt like the perfect solution: why not turn it into a new, brighter, more personal bed tent?
I reused the original KURA tent frame (no need to reinvent the wheel!) and carefully sewed the crochet blanket onto it.
The result? A soft, colorful, semi-transparent canopy that lets in just enough light while giving my daughter her own little world to play, read, or daydream in.
Not only did the space become more inviting, but it also carried a piece of family history — a loving reminder of her great-grandmother in the most unexpected place.
It was a simple DIY, but it completely changed how my daughter feels about her bed. She now loves crawling into her handmade hideout, and I love that we were able to breathe new life into a family heirloom.
