Hackers Help: Extra HEMNES Daybed – how can I re-purpose?

IKEA items used: 1 HEMNES daybed

I bought a second HEMNES daybed to get a piece that was missing from the first one I bought. Now I have an almost complete daybed, only missing the reinforcement bar that runs along the front. I’d hate to just throw it away, but what can I do with the pieces?

  1. I am missing draw fronts for the bed. We have everything else and we bought the bed through a shopping service who now won’t help. So no receipt. Happy to pay for the draw fronts if any ideas on how to get hold of them. Thanks

  2. I have the same bed. And the bar you talking of can be replaced easily by a “piece” of wood for some bucks from a DIY store cutted to the right dimensions by an experienced friend. This can’t be so difficult.
    Sorry but it appears as if you would buy a second car when there’s a tire missing on a first car you bought.

    1. Not so actually. Since I live alone and don’t have access to someone like that to help me, I really want to re purpose the pieces. Why are you so snarky?

      1. Sorry, I have to agree that to purchase an entire daybed for a piece that can easily be replaced was an expensive way to solve a simple problem. If you have no use for the bed, replace the now-missing piece and sell it. I don’t have a car either, but I managed not only to carry home a long shelf and brackets to install in my kitchen, I was able to cut it to length with a simple saw. Not difficult.

        1. Well, I bought them both off craigslist (used) so I didnt go to Ikea and buy them new. I wasn’t asking for financial advice you guys, just ideas on what to do with these pieces. And who CARES if I spent more money than you would? And the missing piece ISN’T AVAILABLE TO PURCHASE SEPARATELY. After many trips to Ikea and many many phone calls trying. Sheesh.
