Here’s a clever solution for integrating a home cinema into your bedroom without compromising style or space.
Enjoy the full movie theater experience from the comfort of your bed — and keep everything hidden away when not in use.
With this home theatre setup, your bedroom transforms into a cozy media room by night and a serene retreat by day — no clutter, no compromise.
This is how it looks:
IKEA Bestå hides the projector when the door is closed, and a hacked drawer provides a table for sweets and drinks.
A clean white wall was perfect for a home cinema.
Materials:
- Bestå cabinets with doors (I used 3 different sizes)
Nightstand with snack table hack:
First, I assembled a Bestå cabinet and installed it in a vertical position. The door will then open up to the top. I mounted a folding bracket under the door to keep the door up and in a locked position to serve as a table top.
It’s now ready to be used as a nightstand. The instruction sheet for the bracket says it can hold up to 30 kg; that’s plenty for a large bowl of popcorn and wine for movie night. Or a keyboard and trackpad for late-night working.
Bedroom projector setup
Then I mounted a narrow Bestå on top of the base cabinet. I installed just one door at the top. Then, used some yellow contact paper to hide the screw holes in the bottom section. It adds a nice pop of color. The open shelf is useful for bedtime essentials and a few books we read before bed.
Lastly, I installed a Bestå cabinet to the left where I house the projector. The Mac Mini is placed in the bottom cabinet.
All the Bestå pieces are mounted to the wall and to each other, and all the wires are hidden behind the Bestå cabinets.
